Liszt (1811-1886)Apres une Lecture du Dante - Fantasia quasi Sonata from Annees de Pelerinage (Deuxieme Annee Itali)P R O F I L EPianist Kim Yeon-geong is described as a player with animating touch on the keys of piano and colorful tones and a musician who communicates with the audience in the concerts. After graduating Seonhwa Arts Middle School and High School, Kim obtained a bachelor’s degree in music from Seoul National University, master’s degree from the Julliard School, and doctoral degree in music from New York State University. While studying in the US, she participated in Bowdoin Summer Music Festival and played chamber music in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the death of Mozart at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. She also played a piano solo and chamber music at Staller Center of New York State University. After coming back to Korea, Kim held about 20 solo recitals in the various concert halls including Hoam Art Hall, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, Seoul Arts Center and Kumho Art Hall. She also made an appearance in a number of concerts such as Young Pianists’ Special Concert hosted by the monthly magazine “The Piano,” Young Musicians’ Concert hosted by The Piano Society of Korea, regular concert of Korean Institute for French Music, regular concert of Uni-Soloists, fundraising concert for the College of Music of Seoul National University, and regular concert of the Contemporary Music Society in Seoul. In 2005, she played all the piano solos of Ravel in her two solo recitals. In addition, she collaborated with Projektorchester des SLLO from Germany, Kazan Symphony Orchestra from Russia, Rome Symphony from Italy, and The Oradea State Philharmonic Orchestra from Rumania. In February 2009, she played in Concertante Musica Concert held in Seoul Arts Center. In March 2010, she held a solo concert in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Liszt. She had taught at Seoul National University, Ewha Womans University, Sookmyung Women’s University, Sungshin Women’s University and Pusan National University and served as a visiting professor of Dongduk Women’s University. She is now teaching at Anyang University as a professor.
