# The Alto Ensemble The Alto Ensemble, which means "viola" in French, was organized by violists who have been active as professional performers on various stages in Korea after returning from abroad, led by music director Kim Do-yeon (Professor of Sungshin Women’s University). Although the viola is well known for its warm and comfortable sound, it is intended to show various and attractive tones by utilizing the wide sound range that ‘alto’ can express from high-pitch to low-pitch sound, and to publicize another new attraction of viola to audiences through many different musical attempts in the future.The second regular concert of the Di Alto Ensemble in March 2024 will introduce Austrian composer M.v. Weinzierl’s Nachtstück, Op. 34 für Violen, British composer Y. Bowen’s Fantasie Quarter, Op. 41, and G. Mahler’s Adagietto Viola Quartet, and King of Lied, F. Schubert’ The Erlkonig for 8 violas will also introduce as a version arranged by Max Baillie. These rich and wide-ranged repertoire will present and lead the audience to a charming world of viola.
