줄거리 :  대전대비의 귀여움을 받아 궁궐에 들어온 옥란(김지미)은 숙종(김진규)의 온갖 총애를 받아 막강한 권력을 휘두른다. 교만해진 옥란은 김중전(주증녀)의 앞에서까지 교만한 모습을 보이고, 이로 인해 궁궐 밖으로 쫓겨난다. 사가에서 슬픔 속에 시간을 보내던 옥란은 새로이 중전이 된 민중전(조미령)의 배려로 궁궐로 다시 돌아오게 되고, 숙종의 아들까지 낳아 빈으로 책봉된다. 세자의 어미라는 직위와 속임수로 민중전을 폐하는데 성공한 장희빈은 중전이 되지만, 숙종은 마침내 그녀의 간악함을 깨닫고 민중전을 복귀시키고 희빈 장씨는 사약을 받게 된다.

SYNOPSIS : Sukjong, a king of Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), exalts a selfish and greedy concubine to the status of Bin, which is next to that of the queen. The new Bin, who is now called Janghuibin, drives out the queen through a coup and takes her place. But thanks to loyal court officials, the king finds out what has been going on. He demotes Jang to Bin again and reinstates his queen. Jang, now vindictive, conspires with her mother to kill the queen and reclaim her place. But the conspiracy is brought to light, and Jang is executed.
