Edward Curtis, Sacred LegacySpiritual companion for Indians, the one who chases a shadow, Edward Curtis, Scared Legacy- A total of 75 pieces of Edward Curtis’ artistic pictures and works showing the lifestyle of North American Indians in the early 1990s are on exhibition. - Centering on the works of Edward Curtis, the exhibition also introduces the movie “Coming to Light,” which was produced by Anne Makepeace and won the Documentary Film Award.- The best exhibition which sheds light on the early history of photography and the history of Indians through Edward Curtis’ pictures showing the last footsteps of Indians, the disappearing ethnic group. The U.S. Embassy Seoul hosts an exhibition titled “Edward Curtis, Sacred Legacy” to display pictures of Edward Curtis, a photographer and anthropologist who recorded the life and culture of American Indians, and video introducing his works. This exhibition was designed to pay tribute to Edward Curtis who devoted his whole life to photograph the last images of American Indians and commemorate and publicize their historical and cultural diversity with the support of the U.S. State Department. It was successfully held in 45 countries and attracted attention from media. Curtis recorded the great parts of the American history as a photographer and anthropologist by introducing hidden stories of Indians which are unseen in other pictures and plentiful information on ethnic groups he met with. This exhibition is expected to show the early history of photography and vivid images of American Indians who are remembered as a vanished ethnic group through the pictures taken by Edward Curtis.
